Job Title: Aquatics Coordinator Leave Replacement 

Reports to: Aquatics Manager

Work Schedule: 8.0 hours per day

Job Summary:  

The Aquatic Coordinator is responsible for supervising water safety instructors, lifeguards, water aerobics instructors, and others as assigned by the Aquatic Manager; providing training to meet qualifications required by this program; instructing water aerobic classes; assists in developing community swim programs; registering community swim lessons; developing public and private swim lessons; and monitoring staff schedules.

 

Essential Job Functions:  

This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.  Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:

  • Develop and maintain pool manual
  • Provide supervision of the swimming area to ensure health and safety of those participating in lessons and other programs
  • Enforce all rules and regulations of the facility
  • Provides quarterly in-service training for lifeguards
  • Ensure that all employees training and certificate records remain current
  • Pre-employment testing
  • Provide new employee lifeguard training
  • Evaluate lifeguards quarterly
  • Complete accurate accident and incident reports
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the mechanical room
  • Complete daily water testing (in compliance with state health codes)
  • Maintain water chemistry
  • Inventory and order pool chemicals
  • Enforce Marysville School District’s reports
  • Complete work orders
  • Meet with District safety officer to understand legal aspects of the job
  • Maintain updated knowledge of school policies and procedures that affect the position
  • Enforce staff policies and procedures
  • Interpret state health codes
  • Inspect all safety equipment monthly
  • Inspect and stock all first aid equipment including fanny packs
  • Responsible for first aid inventory
  • Conduct registration for all aquatic programs
  • Set staff schedules
  • Complete employee time sheets
  • Complete bank deposits
  • Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours
  • Professionally interact with students, staff, and public
  • Comply with all district policies and procedures
  • Perform related duties as assigned

  • Skills in good public relations and effective interpersonal communication
  • Demonstrated knowledge, aptitude skills of work and duties to be performed
  • Basic knowledge of pool chemistry and proper use of chemistry measuring equipment
  • Knowledge of written policies governing use of District pool
  • Knowledge of all swimming strokes
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs
  • Knowledge of State Health Codes
  • Ability to communicate with other lifeguards and instructors
  • Ability to provide lifeguard training skills to all staff
  • Ability to work well with peers, adults and children of all ages
  • Ability to keep information confidential
  • Ability to give and follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations
  • Ability to organize and oversee activities
  • Ability to be fair and consistent

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of lifeguard experience
  • Two years swim instruction experience
  • Two years leadership experience 
  • One year instructor trainer preferred or willingness to obtain
    • Basic computer skills 
    • High School diploma or equivalent 
    • Experience and/or training with cultural, ethnic, and language diversity preferred
    • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
    • Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later)
    • I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
  • Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date

Work Environment:  

The working conditions include constant interruptions; high noise level; and supervision of adults and students.  The employee is required to deal with a wide range of behaviors that may include angry or distraught patrons. 

 

Evaluation:

The Aquatics Coordinator shall be evaluated periodically by the Aquatics Manager pursuant to the currently established district procedures and evaluation criteria.  The process shall include an evaluation of the employee’s performance of the above essential job functions.
