Position Summary:
Provide cultural/instruction support to Career and Technical Education (CTE) students under the direct supervision of a highly qualified CTE instructor. Provide cultural/instructional support for the CTE Maritime Trades program in the lab and classroom settings.
Qualifications:
- Extensive understanding - either through lived or professional experience - of Tribal structures and American Indian/Alaska Native community values, systems and indigenous practices.
- Extensive understanding - through work or lived experience of Tribal and AI/AN community priorities, strengths, needs, and barriers.
- Practice of cultural humility and respect for Native traditions.
- Ability to facilitate internal and external groups to develop and deepen relationships and enhance partnership(s).
- Ability to build, maintain and strengthen collaborative partnerships.
- Experience in communicating effectively, orally and in writing to public audiences with an emphasis on culturally - appropriate communications to Tribes and AI/AN community partners
- Ability to think strategically and build both a current and long-term vision to improve Exchange services for Tribes and AI/AN communities
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists instructor(s) with implementing culturally relevant curriculum within the Marysville School District (MSD) Maritime Trades program.
- Provide planning, training coordination, and consultative advice in relation to tribal perspectives.
- Help build a strategic roadmap to further existing relationships, programs, policies, and outreach associated with the MSD Maritime Trades Program.
- Play a critical role in the ongoing development of the MSD Maritime Trades program, and education and outreach efforts to Tribes and American Indian/Alaska Native communities.
- Communicate and affirm the commitment to the inclusion of Tribal communities in organizational strategies and initiatives associated with the MSD Maritime Trades program.
- Solicit Tribal feedback and recommendations in relation to the MSD Maritime Trades program.
- Highlight potential Tribal implications during the ongoing development of the MSD Maritime Trades Program.
- Coordinate initiatives, at the request of Tribal partners, to promote Maritime Trade opportunities.
- Maintain an awareness of Maritime industry issues of importance to Tribal communities.
- Elevate AI/AN community perspective into all areas of the Maritime Trades Program.
- Provide counsel, advice and guidance to the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department.
- Identify potential barriers to AI/AN participation in the MSD Maritime Trades Program.
- Travel requirements will be limited, however there may be occasions where an employee is required to travel and work irregular hours to attend meetings or trainings
- The employee is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe, ergonomic, and secure workspace at their remote location
- Assists students in the Maritime Trades program.
- Assists with creating and maintaining classroom environments and work stations.
- Organizes, promotes, coordinates and conducts specific activities to carry forward the requirements of the program directives.
- Develops and maintains sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, abilities and disabilities.
- Assists the teacher in working with students individually or in small groups to reinforce material and skills as directed by the teacher and related staff members in both school and job settings.
- Assists the teacher in implementing and maintaining classroom discipline as directed.
- Uses effective basic strategies for management of behavior as well as crisis intervention strategies for prevention and intervention.
- Assists in planning lessons and activities for smaller groups or individual students under the direction of the teacher.
- Responsible for regular communication with the instructor, and documenting the completion of assigned tasks.
- Assists in organizing and preparation of classroom materials.
- Uses conflict resolution skills to solve problems.
- Exhibits collaboration skills and teamwork.
- Maintains professionalism when working with families.
- Ability to communicate well with students.
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations as directed.
- Acts as a role model to students.
- Follows and supports administrative regulations of the school and the district.
- Participates in appropriate in-service, workshops and conferences as directed.
- Attends parent conferences as requested by the teacher.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Is able to learn individual course curriculums to better serve students.
- Attends industry training when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:

- CPR/First Aid certification
